means of treating not only stress related ailments but countless other health problems.  Massage has

What is massage and how can the simple act of  touching someone promote so many health benefits?
The skin is the body’s largest organ. Massage is the manipulation of this soft tissue effecting a change
in the surrounding tissue and structures. Our bodies and posture are held in balance by muscles
throughout the entire body.  If one or more of your muscles become too tight or weak, then your
posture will be thrown out and your body will deliberately pull other muscles out of their normal state of
tone to compensate. If this is not corrected it will over time be accepted by your body and you will have
a permanent imbalance. You will become accustomed to this over time and quite possibly will not
notice that you have a dysfunction until you try to do something which requires a normal full range of
movement. Massage therapy relaxes and stretches these tight muscles or strengthens and tones the
weak muscles. This is the main physical property of massage. It also has a profound effect on all the
systems of your body, as well as relaxing you mentally and reducing emotional turmoil.
